At an autumn Coffee Morning organised by the Welshampton Methodists, this year’s Community Service Award was presented to Ann and Andrew Boskett.

Below is a selection of comments from the nominations the Parish Council received in coming to its decision:

“Ann and Andrew are always here for our village. If it is a Church, Parish Hall do, they are there in a modest but welcoming and willing way. Model villagers”

“Andrew and Ann work together wherever they think they can help.  Over the last few years they have helped to raise £1,000 with various groups. They help with the monthly coffee morning run by the Methodist Chapel.  Ann and her daughter bake endless cakes which are very good and sell quickly. They help with the Church concerts and with Ann again serving teas and coffees. They also run the 300m club which supports the school and Village Hall.”

“Whatever event is happening locally, it’s Andrew and Ann who are there helping.  They are true. modest unsung heroes. Parish Hall, Church, Chapel ‘Come Dancing’ their support, attitude, ‘can do’ mindset is admirable.”

We think you will agree that the surprised expressions on Ann and Andrew’s faces at the presentation are a  reflection of their selfless approach to helping our community.
