At a meeting of the Welshampton Bonfire Committee during the spring in 2023, 2 members of the Parish Council gate-crashed their meeting. The Committee were surprised but thrilled to learn why! Cllr Mike Dinsdale explained:
“We are here this evening representing Welshampton and Lyneal Parish Council. The Council started an annual Community Service Award back in 2018. Residents of the parish are invited to nominate persons that have made a significant contribution to our communities. The Parish Council then judges the nominations and we make the award. This evening it is our privilege and pleasure to make this presentation, not to a single individual but to an amazing group of talented people, that have served and entertained our communities for many years. I speak of course of non other than the Welshampton Bonfire Committee.”
